Description
Key information
- Directions : This medicine is only used for bacterial infections and is ineffective against viral infections such as colds or flu.
- Dosage : The dosage is determined by a doctor based on age, weight and the severity of the infection. Doses are usually given every 8 or 12 hours.
- Administration :
Shake the bottle well before each use to mix the medicine evenly. - Use an appropriate measuring device (such as an oral syringe or a dosing spoon), not a kitchen spoon, to measure the exact dose.
- The suspension can be taken with or without food.
- The measured dose can be added to infant formula, milk, fruit juice, water or ginger ale and must be drunk immediately and completely.
- Duration of treatment : Take the medicine for the full prescribed duration, even if the symptoms improve or disappear after a few days. Stopping treatment early can lead to a relapse of the infection and bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
- Storage : The liquid suspension should ideally be kept in the refrigerator, but it can be kept at room temperature in some cases (check the product leaflet). It must be thrown away after 14 days (or 7 days depending on the preparation).
