Gentamicin (Eye_Drops)

250.00 G

The gentamicin eye drops are an antibiotic prescribed to treat bacterial eye infections, such as conjunctivitis or keratitis, by acting directly on the bacteria. They must be used exactly as prescribed by a doctor (one drop, closing the eye for a few moments) to avoid bacterial resistance, and never without a prescription, as they are ineffective against viral infections and can cause irritation or allergies.

Description

Uses
  • Treats infections caused by susceptible bacteria, such as:
    • Conjunctivitis.
    • Keratitis (inflammation of the cornea).
    • Ulcers of the cornea caused by bacteria.
  • Works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins to kill them.
How to use it (general method)
  1. Wash your hands.
  2. Tilt your head back and pull the lower eyelid down to form a small pocket.
  3. Put one drop into the pocket.
  4. Close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes, while gently pressing the corner of the eye near the nose (nasolacrimal occlusion) to prolong the effect and reduce side effects.
  5. Space the drops at least 15 minutes apart from other eye drops.
Important precautions
  • Follow the prescription : Do not change the dose or duration without medical advice, to avoid bacterial resistance.
  • Ineffective against viruses : Does not help with viral infections.
  • Side effects : May cause local irritation or an allergic reaction.
  • Stopping treatment : Do not stop it too early.
  • Allergies : Do not use in case of allergy to gentamicin or aminoglycosides.
