Description
Main indications
- Cramps and spasms : Relieves stomach aches and intestinal spasms (knotted stomach, irritable bowel).
- Various origins : Applies to digestive, biliary and genitourinary disorders.
How does it work?
- Its active ingredient, butylhyoscine bromide, acts directly on the smooth muscles of the internal organs to relax them.
Dosage (Adults and children > 6 years)
- Swallow 1 to 2 tablets, 3 to 5 times a day, with a liquid.
- Do not chew the coated tablets.
- Do not use continuously or for a prolonged period without medical advice.
Precautions and side effects
- Possible effects : Dry mouth, faster pulse, skin reactions.
- Contraindications : Allergy, glaucoma, prostate adenoma, paralytic ileus, myasthenia gravis, and in children under 6 years old (except suppositories).
Formulations
There is a Buscopan Compositum version that also contains paracetamol for a pain-relieving as well as antispasmodic effect.
