Composition and indications
Ferrolax syrup is a nutritional supplement that contains a combination of iron as ferrous fumarate, as well as various vitamins and natural extracts.
- Active ingredients: Each 5 mL contains 14 mg of iron (as ferrous fumarate), as well as vitamin C, various B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, B12), vitamin D, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, iodine and natural extracts (Siberian ginseng, flaxseed oil, green tea, beetroot, honey, malt extract).
- Indications: It is mainly used to prevent or treat deficiencies in iron, folic acid and other nutrients, especially during pregnancy, breastfeeding, after surgery or in case of malnutrition.
Dosage and directions for use
The dosage may vary depending on age and state of health, so it is recommended to follow the advice of a healthcare professional.
- Administration: The syrup is taken by mouth. It can be taken with or without food, but some experts suggest taking it before meals for better absorption.
- Recommendations:
- Adults and children over 12 years old: The usual dose is 12 to 18 mL per day for the treatment of anemia.
- Pregnant women (prevention): 4.5 to 9 mL per day from the 4th month of pregnancy.
- Children under 10 years old: The dose is adjusted according to weight, typically 3 mg of elemental iron per kg per day.
- Avoid drinking tea or coffee within 2 hours of taking the syrup, as it may reduce iron absorption.
- Taking vitamin C at the same time (such as orange juice) can improve iron absorption.
