Uses
- Abdominal pain : Relieves spasms of the digestive system (stomach, intestines).
- Urinary tract infections : Treats bladder spasms, cystitis and pain related to urinary stones.
- Biliary problems : Relieves pain related to gallstones and hepatic colic.
- Diagnostic aid : Reduces spasms during an endoscopy or X-ray.
- Gynecology : May relieve menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) and uterine spasms.
Administration and dosage
- Given by a doctor or nurse (intramuscularly or by slow intravenous injection).
- The usual adult dose is one 20 mg ampoule, possibly repeated after 30 minutes.
- The maximum daily dose is usually 100 mg.
