- Deca-Durabolin is a prescription medicine used to treat several medical conditions. It works by stimulating tissue growth, improving protein synthesis and increasing red blood cell production.
- Osteoporosis: It helps strengthen bones and reduce the risk of fracture in postmenopausal women by improving bone density.
- Anemia: It is used to treat certain types of anemia, especially those associated with chronic kidney failure or aplastic anemia, by stimulating the formation of red blood cells in the bone marrow.
- Wasting syndromes: It is used to help patients on long-term corticosteroid therapy or those with significant muscle wasting after major surgery, trauma or a disabling chronic illness. In some countries, it has been used to treat muscle wasting in people with HIV/AIDS.
- Breast cancer: It may be used as a palliative treatment for advanced, inoperable breast cancer in women to improve strength and maintain muscle mass.
