Description
Features and selection
- The choice of insulin syringe depends on the prescribed insulin dose and the patient’s build.
- Capacity (volume): Syringes come in different capacities, usually 0.3 ml, 0.5 ml and 1 ml.
- 0.3 ml: Ideal for small doses (up to 30 units) and precise dosing.
- 0.5 ml: Suitable for medium doses (up to 50 units).
- 1 ml: For larger doses (up to 100 units).
- Important note: Most standard insulins have a concentration of U-100 (100 units per milliliter). It is crucial to use a U-100 syringe with U-100 insulin to ensure correct dosing and avoid errors (a U-40 syringe is used for U-40 insulin, mainly for animals).
- Capacity (volume): Syringes come in different capacities, usually 0.3 ml, 0.5 ml and 1 ml.
